A fun, family-friendly 5km fun run is coming to High River.

The 'Bubble Chase' will offer up a chance for not just kids to get involved, but what grownups wouldn't love to run through thousands of bubbles.

Those were some thoughts from the Town of High River's special events coordinator Heather Ross.

"Absolutely, it is completely open and accessible to everyone so, it's going to be around Sunshine Lake and Emerson Lake. It's on the trail so it will be easily accessible to anyone."

It's about 2.5 km around both lakes so if you want to do the full 5 km you'll need to go around twice.

Ross is over the moon excited about the first-time event coming to town.

"Yeah, we're going to have the 5 K Bubble Chase coming on Friday, July 12th in the evening. So, there will be four stations set up, they're about 50 feet or so. And they're going to be different colours so each station will have a different colour to it and you run through it and get covered in bubbles."

Ross adds that it gets underway at 6:00 p.m. with music, with the first race scheduled for 7:00 p.m., and she has some good advice for parents.

"Rain or shine, we're going to go so be prepared for weather. And we find kids, the young ones do get pretty soaked in the bubbles so make sure you bring a change of clothes for them."

Everyone who finishes the race will get a medal and there have already been over 200 people that have signed up.

Prices are kept very family-friendly affordable too says Ross with prices for youth at $14.99 and $24.99 for adults.
