A High River business owner has been convited of GST fraud. Alexandra (Sandy) Triffo has plead guilty to charges of fraud and will spend 4 months under house arrest and be forced to pay back the money and a fine. Joanne Gorsalitz with Revenue Canada says Triffo filed false claims for GST claims over a 5 year period between 1998 and 2003. Subsequent investigation revealed that there was no such equipmentin her possession or anything to back those claims up. She was fined 111,980 dollars which is the amount she defrauded the government. She also has to pay back what she originally stole plus interest and penalties.
