Despite the growing death toll, the Alberta government still hasn't made it mandatory to wear a helmet on an ATV.

Many people in High River think it's a good idea to implement a law enforcing helmets.

"If you have to wear a helmet while on a bike, it should be a given that you wear a helmet on an ATV that goes faster," Jill expresses.

"You only get one head and if you're smooshed up against a tree you don't get that head anymore and a helmet could save that," says John.

Rick says it should just be common sense.

"If there's a choice between getting hurt and not hurt it should but obvious, but clearly it isn't so maybe something needs to be done."

Overall people feel that if it was a law, more people would feel inclined to wear a helmet on an ATV and protect themselves.

There has been eight people killed in Alberta in less than two months from ATV accidents.
