Going out in the bush and finding old, wrecked vehicles to repair is more than a hobby for a pair of High Riverittes.

Peter Nickerson and his wife Audrey Steele run Midnight Oil and also appear on the show Bush Wreck Rescue on Discovery Channel Canada.

Nickerson says they deal with a lot of labours of love.

"A lot of customers will want a truck that they may have had when they were younger or they remember something their dad had or their mom or something like that, a nice old truck from the 60's or 70's seem to be the most popular and according to what the customer wants we'll take them right down to the frame, rebuild everything and so everything is new, it's a new '66 Chevy half-ton when we're done," he says.

Audrey does the detailing and says it's very important to get that right.

"You know when you go to a car show there are people that look at the engine, that's their interest, but the first thing you usually see is the interior, the exterior and we want those to look pristine and perfect," she says.

Peter says they really do go out there and pull wrecks out of the weeds.

"Absolutely, in one of the episodes I think we start right with a bang, this one truck we pull out, it's seven cars deep into a salvage yard, we have to cut trees, there's flood mud, there's everything, it's very dangerous."

He says filming the show can get a bit confusing in the shop, trying to get work done while there are two cameramen and a director and they're trying to get a certain angle for a shot it makes for long days and something that usually takes ten minutes can take an hour-and-a-half.
