The High River Fire Department has been busier this year than last.

Fire chief Cody Zebedee says they're up about 45 calls from where they were last year at this time.

He says luckily not many of those calls have been for wildland or grass fires.

Zebedee says medical response calls in support of EMS have played a role in a large number of calls although this year they've run the gambit from motor vehicle crashes to alarms.
