The High River Sunset Drive-In opened this season just in time for the August long weekend and has movies lined up now until late September.

They kicked off the season with a baseball double-feature of The Sandlot and the original 1972 movie The Bad News Bears and both Paul Blart: Mall Cop movies.

Then they took a journey through the jungle with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Kong: Skull Island along with a disaster night double-feature with Twister and Volcano.

Now for this upcoming weekend they have The Lego Movie followed by The Avengers on Friday, August 18 with some comedies Legally Blonde and Zoolander lined up for Saturday night.

Something extra special is also planned for Friday, August 18 as Mitchell's, the Western Canadian meat company, is treating everyone to a free night at the movies. They will also have free concession food including some bacon snacks and you can enter to win a year's supply of bacon from Mitchell's. However, it's already sold out.  You can be put on a waiting list at Mitchells Movie Night! - High River Sunset Drive In - High River - Aug 18, 2023 | Showpass

And then talk about a lineup for kids and those young at heart - the original Willy Wonka and Chocolate Factory and the always classic The Wizard of Oz on August 25.

The month wraps up with a double dose of Disney with the animated 101 Dalmations and Cruella the next night on August 26.

The September lineup has yet to be released.

The High River Sunset Drive-In is a non-profit with volunteer groups signing up to host and thus receiving funds from the night. The cost to get in is $40 per vehicle and more details can be found on their website.
