The first year of university will be a little less expensive for Holy Trinity Academy graduate Noah Gutek.

The Knights football star received $2,000 from Football Alberta who gave him their rural scholarship this year.

He's headed to the University of Calgary this Fall, but will have to wait at least a year to suit up as the Dino's and the rest of the CIAU have pumped the brakes on their season thanks to COVID-19.

Knights head coach, Matt Hassett, says he's pleased to see Gutek will continue to play in Alberta.

"It's good to see kids, especially local kids, go on to play football within Alberta. That's kind of the reason for the scholarship, to promote kids playing post-secondary football within Alberta. Nice to see kids play close to home."

He says Gutek definitely deserves to stand among the five players to receive scholarships this year..

"He's a hard worker. He's worked really hard to get where he is in the classroom and on the field, and he's going to be very successful in whatever he does."
