UCP Leader Jason Kenney is reacting to the news of five board members, including it's President, quitting the UCP Constituency Association in Livingstone-Macleod last week.

Former President Maureen Moncrief, along with four others quit after their meeting Thursday, March 7, with Moncrief saying she wasn't happy with party leadership, including Kenney.

Asked about the matter Friday, March 8, Kenney didn't know specifics.

"I don't know anything about those comments or what those individuals have done. I regret it if anyone doesn't want to stay active in the Party. All I can say is our Party's membership has grown by over 50 per cent since our leadership election. We're now at around 160,000 active, paid up members, making us by far, the largest provincial political party in Canada."

Kenney says it could be a case of sour grapes.

"I think there were four candidates that ran there. Perhaps these are people who didn't like the outcome of that nomination. We've seen in a number of ridings, supporters of candidates who didn't win, being aggrieved. It may have something to do with the fact that they were supporters of one of the three candidates who were not nominated in Livingstone-Macleod."

Only three candidates ran in the UCP nomination race in the riding.

Roger Reid who won, while one of the other candidates, Nathan Neudorf, successfully ran in, Lethbridge-East after losing to Reid here in Livingstone-Macleod.

For her part, Moncrief says she felt Kenney hasn't followed through on his promise of a grass roots party.
