A local woman has gathered up knitting fanatics from all around to put together something special for Remembrance Day this year.

Merridell Richardson has gather knitters from all around to create poppies for Remembrance Day.

Richardson says "[we had] The Library Knitters, the Hospital Auxiliary Knitters, the United Church Knitters and anyone that answered the call."

The project produced over 3000 poppies.

"Around 300 hours of knitting," Richardson says "hopefully younger people will see them and ask questions."

The poppies will be hung on a deer net provided by Canadian Tire in the High River Legion building on Tuesday, October 29th.
