A pair of Foothills ball players are off to Aberdeen, Maryland to take part in the Cal Ripken World Series.

Okotoks Steve Lloyd is coaching Team Canada this year and says both Turner Valley's Jake Libbus, who plays in Calgary and for the J-Dawgs Bantam Red team, and Okotoks Kye Seitz, who plays with the Okotoks Outlaws program, made enough of an impression, that he had to add them to the roster.

"Jake's going to be our starting catcher. Kye is another Okotoks kid, Lyle's boy, plays in the Outlaws program. He's made our team, kind of a left handed hitter off the bench, plays a little first base. We're loaded for bear this year, and understanding that the bear's pretty big."

Lloyd says the competition will be fierce, but he feels his team will do well on the international stage.

Both boys are just 13 years old, but have already been to international tournaments in Las Vegas and Phoenix in the past.
