At least one local golf pro has a shot at some cash after day one of the PGA of Alberta's Assistant's Championship at The Ranch Golf Club in Spruce Grove.

Riley Fleming from the National Golf Academy Dome leads the way after round one, shooting a 5-under 66, Calgary's Wes Heffernan is right behind at 67.

Eric Locke from Priddis Greens is four shots back after shooting a 1-under 70.

Sam Kirkness from Priddis had a 2-over 73, while Chris Cooke from Kananaskis had a 77 and Sirocco's Craig Gibson shot a 79 as they head into the second and final round Wednesday, August 8.
