Its hard times for a third generation farm family from Rocky View County.

The egg farm also known as 'Sparks' east of Calgary fell victim to a fire on June 7th which burned their four barns of laying hens.

Alberta Egg Producer's David Webb says it was a terrible day but there is a silver lining.

Webb says the Sparks grading station produced half the eggs in the province so when their facility was down other farms took over.

However he says this incident won't be making eggs scarce or pricier here and the Rocky View Fire Department played a huge role in that.

Investigators viewed the remaining grading station and Webb says they had positive news.

Full capacity production for Sparks means handling about one million eggs from 80 other farms each day.
