Now that the holidays have passed, it's time to clean up the decorations and pack away the tree.

For those in Diamond Valley who are inclined to use real Christmas trees, you don't have to drag them that far when it's time to dispose of them.

All you have to do is take off all of its tinsel and decorations, and then either chop it up and place it into your recycling bin or simply drag it out to your curb and let the town do the rest.

Craig Beaton, Operations Manager for Diamond Valley, explains that both Black Diamond and Turner Valley had collected Christmas trees from residents in the past, and this year will be no different.

"Our staff drive around a couple times a week, pick up those trees, we take them down to a lay down yard that we store our excess materials in, and we'll have them chipped at the end of the season," explained Beaton.

There is no extra fee to have your tree collected by the town.

While there is no set collection date for the Christmas Tree Recycling program, Beaton does suggest giving the town a call if your tree hasn't been picked up after a couple of days.

Tree collection is happening until the end of January.
