The vice chair of the Alberta Beef Producers moves up into the number one spot at the annual meeting in Calgary. Claresholm area rancher Rick Burton says while challenges remain for the industry he is optimistic for the future.

Burton says that's due to the quality of delegates that have stepped forward this year.  "They have made a conscious decision to devote their energies and experience to the betterment of this industry so I can't help but be optimistic".
Burton says this year's delegates include a good mix of new faces and people he's known for a long time.
