It's human nature that people want to show their appreciation to those on the front lines during a crisis.

And one of the simplest ways of doing that is by showing up with a box of donuts or a tray of sandwiches.

Alberta Health Services is being forced to say "thanks, but no thanks."

In a post on Facebook, AHS says they really appreciate the gesture, but taking food sourced from outside their control is just too much of a risk for their staff and patients because of COVID-19.

They say no staff are allowed to accept food from outside AHS control, nor are they allowed to serve it to other staff or patients.

AHS says they love that people want to do this, but it's just too great a risk.
