One Oilers defenceman has made his first AJHL goal unforgettable.

Nicholas Wolfenberg scored the overtime winner in Saturday night's game (Jan. 22), giving the Okotoks Oilers a 3-2 victory over the Camrose Kodiaks.

"It's super special to me. It's something I'll remember for the rest of my life. That doesn't happen for a lot of guys. But I was just happy that we won honestly. It was a big two points for us."

For 17-year-old Wolfenberg, the timing couldn't have been better.

"It was awesome. Obviously, you just want to score and get that monkey off the back, but it couldn't have come at a better time. It just, kind of unbelievable feeling, I didn't really know what to think, so I just kind of threw my hands up in the air and started yelling. But it felt great."

Scoring the game-winning goal gave his team their fifth consecutive win at home.

Their next game is Tuesday night, Jan. 25, with a matchup against the Canmore Eagles on home ice at 7 p.m.
