A much better team effort from the Okotoks Oilers Friday night in Brooks but unfortunately fell on the short end of the stick with 2-1 defeat by the Bandits for the 2nd straight game.

The Oilers dropped their 15th contest of the season dropping them to 4th overall in the South Division but earned the respect of the South Division leading Bandits.

After falling 7-4 Thursday at home to Brooks, Defenceman Carson Beers says the showed they were able to adjust after giving up four power play goals in the 7-4 game and then turning things around on special teams going a perfect 6-6 on penalty kill.

"Going back to the last game we played against them, we weren't too sharp on the penalty kill and then we did a little video and just watched how little details mades us in the situation that's all," he says.

The Oilers wrap up the 2015 portion of the 2015-16 AJHL season Saturday night in Camrose against the Kodiaks, with a regulation win they'd take the season series and Beers says its going to be a battle with them especially in the third game in as many nights.

"We're still a young team, going into Camrose we're going to have to be even better on the little details than against Brooks, Brooks has more skill but Camrose is more hard working and a grittier team so if we back away from throwing body checks they'll do the same thing Brooks did when we lost 7-4," he says.

The Oilers have now lost two straight heading into their final game before the Christmas break and Beers would like to see a 'W' in Camrose Saturday.

"We've been struggling to find our game again but we all want to go into the Christmas break here with a good out and it would be nice to take a victory from Camrose."

Puck drop is 7 p.m. in Camrose.
