With a five-game home stand all wrapped-up, the Okotoks Dawgs (15-12) hit the road for a four-game trip through Saskatchewan.

The Dawgs closed the home stand with two straight losses, included a narrow 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Edmonton Prospects, dropping them to last place in a tight WMBL Alberta Division.

Dawgs Manager Brett Thomas says his club has to find a way to win those close games.

"Sometimes we have to win those tight ones," he says. "As much as we would've liked our offence to obviously produce more, it's nice when you've got enough pitching that can win you a tight game, and unfortunately we didn't play defence behind them."

When the Dawgs embarked on their first swing through the Wheat Province, they were 3-8 on the season and struggling to find their identity, and a 4-6 record on that trip could be looked at as a turning point in the season.

Thomas says he it's another chance to re-create that magic.

"These guys are working hard," he says. "I think a little trip to Saskatchewan can't hurt. We've added quite a few guys since our last trip, so it's always good for the bonding when everyone gets together and has a good time on the road."

The Dawgs open the trip with a pair of games Monday and Tuesday against the Regina Red Sox, a team they've yet to face this season.

Thomas says the Sox are always a good team, but their game plan won't change much.

"Doesn't really matter who we play," he says. "If we play our game, I don't think anybody can beat us. So, it's just a matter of going out there and competing and having a good time."

The Dawgs wrap up the road trip with a pair of games in Weyburn against the Beavers Wednesday and Thursday, before heading home to host the Edmonton Prospects Friday night.
