Amazon Prime members will soon have to watch commercials while they stream their favourite shows.

In an email sent out to Prime Video customers, Amazon stated that they will start showing limited advertisements during the streaming of their content.

"Starting February 5, Prime Video movies and TV shows will include limited advertisements. This will allow us to continue investing in compelling content and keep increasing that investment over a long period of time," stated Amazon.

While they are adding commercials, they aim to have fewer ads than traditional television and other streaming providers.

There won't be any automatic change to your current account, but if you wish to still avoid commercials, subscribers will have to pay an additional $2.99 per month on top of what they're already paying.
