This Saturday, October 5th marks the kick-off for the Pumpkin and Scarecrow Festivals at Kayben Farms.

Happening every Saturday during the month of October from 10am-5pm, the festivals feature a number of fun fall activities for the entire family.

Each week, there will be music, wagon rides, a corn maze, JoJo's Cafe and Concession, as well as access to the Sunshine Adventure Park.

In addition, there will be a different theme and contest each week.

Stephanie Parker with Kayben Farms says this weekend features the 'Little Miss Scarecrow Pageant' and it's also 'Princess Dress Up Day"

She says "well, we open at 10am and the pageant starts at 11 and you can show up any time, dressed as a princess and if you want to watch the pageant, show up at 11 and see it happen on stage."

The pageant is for girls aged 2-7, who are asked to dress in accordance to the scarecrow or fall theme.

Entrants also need to perform a special talent on stage.

Parker adds the pageant contestants aren't the only ones encouraged to dress up.

She says "everybody can dress up as a scarecrow or a princess, we have our awesome pumpkin carriage that everyone can take pictures in and we'll have a professional photographer there."

In addition to the weekly contests, Parker adds there's one running the entire month as well called 'Scarecrows for Charity'.

She says "businesses, groups and even individuals can enter a scarecrow, everyone pays 10 dollars as an entry fee and the winning scarecrow will get all the entry fees towards their favorite charity."

Voting for the scarecrows closes on October 25th.
