A Block Party is coming to Okotoks in less than two weeks, and you're invited to participate and donate to a wonderful cause.
On June 20 the 2024 Radiothon for the Sheep River Health Trust will be on-site and on-air from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The theme for this year will centre around the support of neighbours with the Radiothon being presented as a Block Party.
The Health Trust said that joining the party this year are "Block Party Neighbours", businesses fundraising in the neighbourhood around The Eagle 100.9 and donating the proceeds from their sales in June to the Radiothon.
Fundraising and Communications co-ordinator with Sheep River Health Trust, Christine Oakes said they wanted to make sure these businesses were highlighted for this year's big day.
“Businesses care about the health of their customers and community, but the economy is still recovering, so sponsorship isn’t always an option for the small business owner,” she said.
“They still want to support the Radiothon, so the Block Party Neighbour option was created to include the neighbourhood in Radiothon. Every size of donation counts, large or small.”
This year, the Radiothon is raising funds for 10 organizations including the Sheep River Health Trust for several of its programs. Those programs include Spiritual Care, Music Therapy, the School Meal Program, and the Therapy Garden at Rising Sun Long Term Care.
The Radio Thon and Block Party takes place at the parking lot in front of The Eagle 100.9 at 22 Elizabeth Street on June 20. There will be prizes every hour, food trucks, and a vendor market.
