The RCMP have provided more information on this afternoon's fatal glider crash.

At around 1:30 p.m. on May 29, Foothills RCMP responded to a call about a "small non-motorized glider aircraft" that had crashed in a field near Highway 7 and 112 St. 

EMS, RCMP, and Diamond Valley Fire Rescue attended the scene.

According to a Facebook post from Diamond Valley Fire Rescue, crews located the aircraft, and bystanders pointed them to the location of the pilot, who was found about 100 metres away from the glider.

The pilot, a 65-year-old Calgary man, was declared deceased at the scene.

Transport Canada is investigating the circumstances of the crash.
