The Western Barley Growers Association says the Canadian Wheat Board's Producer Survey favors certain farmers over others.

President Brian Otto argues the Board is primarily hearing from its supporters.

"19 per cent of the farmers that are interviewed are over 65 years of age", he says, "the younger farmers are going to be involved in this industry a lot longer than the ones that are over 65 and in my opinion they are not being represented very well in this survey."

Otto says the Barley Growers are also concerned with the Board only surveying farmers who hold CWB permit books.  He says there is a significant number of producers that are still actively farming, but don't hold their own permit book.
