A 2-1 loss for the Calgary Flames Tuesday, August 18, has them on the brink of elimination at the hands of the Dallas Stars.

Goals from Jamie Benn and John Klingberg were all the Stars needed to take a three games to two lead in the series as they won their second in a row.

The Flames will need to win the next two if they hope to move on in the playoffs.

They'll play game six Thursday, August 20, in Edmonton.

In the meantime, the Las Vegas Golden Knights are moving on in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

They got by Chicago 4-3 Wednesday night to win that series in five games.

Down east, the Montreal Canadiens fell 2-0 to the Flyers and now trail 3-1 in that series.

They play game five Thursday starting at 6 p.m. (MDT).

And the Washington Capitals avoided the sweep with a 3-2 win over the New York Islanders.

Besides the Habs and Flyers there's four other games on tap Wednesday, August 19 in the NHL playoffs.

In Toronto, the Columbus Blue Jackets host the Tampa Bay Lightning with the Bolts up 3-1 in the series.

They get going at 10 a.m. (MDT).

The Carolina Hurricanes tackle the Boston Bruins as they try to stay alive trailing 3-1 in that series.

It goes at 2 p.m. (MDT).

In Edmonton the Colorado Avalanche can advance with a win over the Arizona Coyotes starting at 3:30 p.m. (MDT)

And the final game of the night has the Vancouver Canucks hosting the St. Louis Blues, with that series knotted up at two wins each.

They get going at 8:30 p.m. (MDT).
