Harrison Hart is one of 40 Canadian youth headed to China this summer to talk trade relations.

A Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School student is ready to get down to business in China.

Seventeen year old Harrison Hart is one of 40 Canadian students selected for Global Vision's Junior Team Canada to talk trade relations between the two countries for Trade Mission to China.

Hart says the significant cultural differences will make for an interesting experience.

"Just from talking to people who have gone on the trip before they've said the biggest thing that struck them was just having to deal with people that have a completely different set of values," he says. "I think it's going to be very empowering because it's going to be nice to see a lot of driven youth in one area and just seeing people that are excited for the future and trying to create a better future for themselves and the people around them."

Hart’s role will be to obtain mandates or objectives from organizations in the Calgary and area communities then partners will make a financial contribution toward the trade mission in exchange for information and connections in the Chinese marketplace.

Hart says forming these international relationships will be essential.

"With the rise of globalization companies are just going to be forced into the position where they don't have the choice to stay local anymore, they'll have to branch out into the global market a lot more so I think building those connections early on, especially with companies that are outside of your country, is going to be very important."

Hart and the other young entrepreneurs start their journey across the world on July 30 and wrap it up August 15.
