The 2015 Western Canada Summer Games came to a close over the weekend.

Team Alberta Took home 226 medals from the events held in Fort McMurray. The medal count breaks down to 62 gold, 85 silver and 79 bronze.

Locally Okotoks' Jessica Helm won Gold medals in the 200-m, 400-m and 1500--m wheelchair competiton in Athletics.

Isaac Niles of Turner Valley won a bronze in Mountain Bike.

In women's team Artistic Gymnastics Jordan Bahr of Okotoks captured a Bronze medal along with Amanda Keegan.

And in Baseball things didn't go so well for Team Alberta as it finished with a 2-and-5 record. Will Undershute and Daniel Donnelly of Okotoks were on that team along with Jacob Libbus of Turner Valley.

Over the span of 10 days, the games hosted about 2,200 athletes from Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, the North West Territories, Yukon, and Nunavut.

John Short, chair of the Alberta Sport Commission, says he expects many of the province's top young athletes will represent Canada at international competitions.
