Okotoks Mark Sutherland still has an outside shot at capturing his first ever World Professional Chuckwagon Association Driver Championship.

He and the other 35 drivers on the tour are in Dawson Creek starting Wednesday for five nights of racing.

Sutherland says his chances are slim of catching the leader, Luke Tournier, but he says things can change very quickly.

"I certainly wouldn't wish bad luck on anybody, but a couple of barrels down and it's a different story. You still have to run tough and competitive, you owe that to your sponsors and if you're trying to win the world championship, you know there's still five or six of us trying."

Sutherland is seventh, a little over a hundred points back of Tournier.

High River's Jason Glass has dropped to 12th and is out of contention.

The races run through to Sunday's "Dash for Cash" final.
