A cougar has been sighted in Okotoks.

According to the town, they received a report of a sighting in Sheep River Cove this afternoon (Feb. 8).

Those in the area are urged to keep pets and children close by.

The town also recommends people stay on residential streets.

If you see a cougar, it's recommended you do not turn your back or run, but rather back away slowly.
