Two people are facing a long list of charges after a stolen vehicle's OnStar system tipped police off.

On Tuesday, Dec. 13 at around 10 a.m., police received a report from OnStar of a stolen vehicle headed from Okotoks to Calgary.

OnStar tracked the vehicle remotely and activated its hazard lights.

The two suspects soon stopped the vehicle in a parking lot and fled on foot, dumping a loaded firearm into a nearby snowbank.

Police pursued and apprehended both suspects.

The suspects and vehicle were searched, and police found stolen credit cards, I.Ds, and a sawed-off shotgun with ammunition.

Adrienne Elizabeth Visser (25) is facing the following charges:

  • Two counts of careless storage of a firearm 
  • One count of unauthorized possession of a firearm 
  • One count of unauthorized possession of firearm in a motor vehicle 
  • One count of possession of a loaded firearm 
  • One count of possession of body armour 
  • One count of possession of stolen property over $5,000
  • Three counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000 
  • One count of possession of identification 
  • Eight counts of possession of stolen credit cards 
  • Two counts of failure to comply with a release order 
  • One count of possession of break-in instruments 
  • 22 outstanding warrants 

Dalton Bennett Winnipeg-Darling (23) is facing the following charges:

  • One count of motor vehicle theft 
  • One count of unauthorized possession of a firearm 
  • One count of possession of a prohibited firearm 
  • One count of possession of a loaded firearm 
  • Three counts of possession of a weapon contrary to prohibition order 
  • One count of possession of crystal meth 
  • One count of possession of body armour 
  • One count of driving while disqualified 
  • 12 counts of failure to comply with a release order 
  • One count of possession of break-in instruments 
  • Seven outstanding warrants
