An Okotoks resident has poured talent and hard work into building a successful Acapella YouTube channel, and after a few years it's paying off.

Dave Elder, The Drive Show host at our sister station the Eagle 100.9, says he's just a few subscribers away from hitting a major milestone in the YouTube world.

"When you reach 100,000 subscribers, you become a certified channel. At this moment, we're at 99, 968 subscribers, and we're very excited to make music on the internet and call it a career. It's a life-long dream," he said.

Elder says this unique channel requires a lot of work, but he enjoys every minute of it.

"I do Acapella covers of nerdy things. We'll find the ones that are popular and do an Acapella cover of them. I dress up in crazy play costumes for each of them, and I'm singing every part from the song. It's quite an undertaking," he said.

Since its inception in 2006, Elder and his long-time high school friend and partner have developed the channel to the tune of over 34 million views, and 99, 968 subscribers.

Elder says in the next few days, the channel should hit the milestone of 100,000 subscribers, earning them a silver YouTube plaque.
