A heavy snowfall warning has been issued by Environment Canada for Friday, March 1.

They're calling for 10 to 20 cm of snow for most of the Foothills including, High River, Okotoks, Nanton, Claresholm, Turner Valley and Black Diamond.

They've also extended it down to the Lethbridge Region, and as far as the U.S. Border as well as into the Crowsnest Pass and Kananaskis Country.

No travel advisories have been issued yet, but it's best to avoid travel if you don't need to be out there.

The snow is expected to lighten up this evening and quit overnight with clear skies, but bitter cold temperatures with a low of -30 and windchills of -36 with a light north wind.

We'll see plenty of sunshine Saturday, March 2, but an arctic high remains in place over the Foothills meaning it'll stay cold with a high of only -18.

However, we are expecting a warm up late next week with temperatures hovering around -1 by Wednesday, March 6 and Thursday, March 7.
