Premier Rachel Notley is pretty pleased with the federal budget.

Notley says there are still a lot of unknowns when it comes to just how much money Alberta can expect.

"There's a pretty major identification of infrastructure money but we don't exactly know how it's going to be allocated so that's a critical; piece that we need to evaluate," she says. "Our rough estimates is that the EI change is going to be worth around $380 million to Albertans."

The budget did not include specific money for Quebec's Bombardier. Notley says Albertans aren't looking for a handout and she has delivered the message over and over in many ways saying what Alberta needs is to get the best price possible for this product that we have in Canada that's still worth a fair amount of money.

She's happy to see investment in green technology and affordable housing and very happy with commitments on clean water and education for indigenous Canadians. She believes a fair investment will be good not just for indigenous people living on reserves but those who live and grow around them. The premier says the education portion of the federal government's budget could amount to half a billion dollars to Alberta.

Notley says her government's budget will look somewhat like what the Liberals delivered.

"I think you'll see similarities to some extent between what the federal government is  doing and what we're doing in that government is taking a position that we have a job to be a shock absorber at a time when the economy is slowing down," she says.

Notley says when it comes to infrastructure, when the money flows to Alberta will depend on the projects that are receiving funding.
