High River Council's agreed with a request to apply for a grant with the Foothills MD.

Lisa Reinders with the Town says the Province encourages municipalities to work together on regional inutilities.

"The project that the MD of Foothills and the Town of High River will be working is a Regional Emergency Services Training Centre," she says. "It would include a fire tower and driving track."

The grant is only for a business plan to see if such a facility would be feasible.

If it moves ahead, plans are for it to go on land where the Saddlebrook housing site was after the 2013 flood along Highway 2-A.

Behr Energy Services did a study on the proposed facility handing over it's report to the MD and the Town in back in August.

It looked at everything, from which courses would be taught there, to the cost of building and operating the facility.
