Every year since 1996 Tim Horton's bakes up copious amounts of smile cookies and for only a buck it's a pretty good deal in more ways than one.

Last year they raised 6.3 million dollars across Canada for local charities and hospitals and local resident Shane Goodson says he's one of those that can't wait for the smile cookies to come out.

"This whole smile cookie event means a lot to us. It's my favorite, it always has been. I love Camp Day and all the rest but Smile Cookies are my favorite."

He says he picked up a batch for some special people that helped his son when it mattered most.

"We're going to South Health Campus in Calgary, we're going to stop at NICU because that is where our son was born last December."

He says he stopped in to pick up a batch of smile cookies for some special nurses.

"It was amazing the effect that this kind of thing has on people. We didn't get to see where the donations went last year but everyone is amazing, they truly are."

The Tim Horton smile cookies campaign started back in 1986 and last year $3.637 was raised in High River.

Tim Horton's smile cookies wrapped up on Sept 18 with a final total of $3,777 raised this year for the Neonatal Care Unit in the Children's Hospital.
