High River Mayor Craig Snodgrass says despite some dire numbers when it comes to the case counts of COVID-19 coming out of the Cargill plant, it's not all doom and gloom.

Snodgrass says even with 821 cases related to the outbreak at the plant, we'll see those numbers start to go down.

"We're definitely seeing things trending in the right direction. These people are doing the right things, they're isolating properly and we're seeing the recoveries starting to come back into play, which is really, really good news."

He says of the 821 cases reported, not all are at the plant itself.

"When you look at the 800 number, a lot of that is Cargill associated people too. Carpoolers and people they live with, etc, etc. So that 800-some number is Cargill related. Which doesn't change anything. They need to be treated the same way and taken care of."

Snodgrass says even better news is the fact the emergency room at the High River Hospital continues to be relatively quiet when it comes to COVID-19.
