The Town of High River has seen a remarkable number of new businesses open their doors over the last few weeks.

They've also seen existing businesses re-open or building new, bigger store fronts.

Mayor Craig Snodgrass says while it's not quite "mission accomplished" the Town has come a long way from where it was after the flood.

"Everybody in this town has worked their butts off for two and a half years now to get this town up and running and being better than ever, we've said that from day one, and I think we're there. There's a lot of work to do yet, but you look at new businesses coming and residential neighbourhoods, new ones coming, with Spitzee Crossing. It shows the confidence is here and everybody's into it and it's happening."

Snodgrass says a lot of that confidence can come from from, as he says "being the most well protected community in Canada" thanks to the flood mitigation efforts that have taken place since 2013.
