Ever since arriving on the scene the Foothills have been taken by "Taken by Sanity".

The young and promising group that calls Black Diamond and Chestermere home have already accomplished so much in their new and fresh career.

And can now add five time YYC Music Award Nominee and one time winner (2019 YYC Music Awards "People's Choice") to their list of achievements.

The Pop/Alternative group just dropped their EP 'Saturn Days' in May of this year but it's their very successful debut album 'City of Contrast' that is racking up the nominations.

Jonah Morris, vocals/ukulele of Taken By Sanity, says they were thrilled when they found out they had been nominated again, "I got a call from Blaine the morning that we found out and he called me and he was just jumping for joy and I was jumping for joy and then we called Blair... and we were just kind of screaming like little girls all morning."

The group woke up to the exciting news that they had been up for Group of the Year, the Zackariah and the Prophets Memorial Award and for People's Choice.

Morris says the group went into the announcements with the "what will be, will be" attitude but couldn't have made it this far without their fans, "when we woke up and saw that it was three, I think last year it was just the two, we were not expecting that at all and we are just floored and super grateful for not only the committee at the YYC Music Awards but for our fans for supporting us, especially through Covid. This honestly means the world to us and it's keeping us going and motivated. It's awesome."

On top of being nominated and walking away with an award in 2019 another huge feat for the band was the overall process of creating their debut album.

With Jonah attending school in British Columbia and the Stillman Brothers holding things down in Alberta Morris says he was super proud of the work they put out, "it was definitely an interesting process... for us to collaborate and record with so much distance between us. It was difficult to visit back and forth but we would send each other ideas and add to them, record whatever we could and send it back and just develop the idea from that. And ya I'm really proud of City of Contrast, just looking back at how much was going on and the fact that we able to pull that off."

The band looks forward to performing live and seeing their fans again once restrictions lift.
