The return of the Terry Fox Run and Walk to High River was a big success.

Organizer Brenda McCredie says everything was great from beginning to end and they even had great weather.

"The even was fabulous, we had about 70 participants and we raised over $2,800, which is a record for the High River Terry Fox Run, so I was thrilled," McCredie says.

Mayor Craig Snodgrass was hand at the beginning and Scott Forbes officially started the event.

"I had great volunteers, the Lions Club donated the group site at George Lane Park, and we had people step up to donate the water and cookies, Charlie Brown donated his time, and it was great,  the weather was perfect and we couldn't have asked for a better day," she says.

McCredie hopes next year's event will be even bigger and better.

Young students took part in their own Terry Fox event Monday.
