A program to cheer seniors up at Christmas time could use a bit of love from the Foothills Community.

A group is collecting Christmas stockings and stuffing them full of items that will make seniors smile over the holidays.

Sue Mueller from Cocolux says Mindy Barstad and Mike Crawford from Co-operators Insurance and Jason McCauley of Sobeys are all helping out.

"Last year we only had 74, this year we are already up to 415," said Mueller. "We are bringing them off to seniors from the 16th to the 24th, with the 24th being the High River Hospital, that will be the end of our route."

She said they are looking for donations of anything that will make a senior smile.

Items like blankets, socks, mittens, gift cards, and candy or cash donations to help purchase items can be dropped up at the Co-operators, Sobeys or Cocolux.

They have included all the Seniors from the Medicine Tree Manor, Sunrise Village, the High River Hospital and the Silver Willow Lodge in Nanton.
