Turner Valley Town Councillor John Waring is hoping to retain his seat in October's civic election.

He says he's been hearing residents concerns over municipal taxes, but says those running for office need to realize just how hard it is to keep those numbers down.

"It's very easy for a candidate to say I'm going to lower taxes, but this is not achievable as easily as people seem to think it is. I believe the new council has got to work very well with the administration and with the residents to develop the Town in a way that's good for all."

Waring says the new council will immediately jump into budget talks after the election giving those with a desire for change a chance to work for just that.

Waring is also in favour of amalgamation with Black Diamond, saying "together we form a common tax base." which he says is good news for both Towns as it will broaden their tax base, and encourage business growth.
