It's been six months since Cielo Waste Solutions invited the media out to see its new plant at Aldersyde.

The plant will use waste materials to create a renewable diesel fuel.

CEO Don Allan says so far they've been fine tuning the operation.

"Well, right now we're using sawdust from the Sundre area," he says. "We're working with the Alberta Environment and Parks on getting permission to start putting in different types of feed stocks in there. We'd like to do some plastics and railroad ties and telephone poles and garbage from the landfills but the director has to sign off on each one so were just working through those permits."

Allan says they're focused on not only making it economical but as green as possible so they've done a lot of changes and spent a lot of money but they've been up and running for just over two weeks and he hopes to be in a revenue position shortly.

He says the cold weather makes it a difficult place to work so they're just firing up the plant and finding areas that need more insulation or electric tape but the cold makes it tough to keep temperatures up on the reactors but the cold also allows them to find problems before they ramp up to full production.
