The Okotoks Bisons, like many junior hockey teams, are having to get creative when it comes to fundraising this season.

They're going to try their luck with an online 50/50.

The Bisons won't have much opportunity to raise funds during their home games as they only have 10 games in the Murray arena this season.

Bisons Director of Fundraising, Shallyn Schinnour, says with the minimal home games they will have to rely on other ways to get funds.

"This is our first online Rafflebox 50/50 to raise funds for travel and equipment, we have a lot of new rookies this year so we are trying to get equipment for them and off-set some costs. I think we are going to have a trying year with COVID and having limited spectators as well as whether or not we can actually have our liquor sales and 50/50's live at the arena because we only have 10 games at home this year."

The Bisons focus right now will be on the online 50/50's which allows fans to participate until the draw on Saturday, November 21.

"For anyone that wants to purchase them, they can go to Rafflebox and search for the Bisons, We will be uploading it on our Twitter and Facebook as well as Instagram. The draw date will be November 21st at the Murray Arena, we will post the winning ticket on social media as well as let Rafflebox know so they can put it up on our website."

Schinnour says the 50/50's aren't the only thing they will be doing this year however nothing has been set in stone just yet.

"There's a few that are up for discussion, we'll probably do another 50/50 in the new year as well as some sort of raffle just before the new year whether it be a liquor basket or something. we are still in the works for something just before Christmas, we are hoping some of the restrictions will be lifted so we can open up some more options for fundraising."
