The Bulls N' Barrells fundraiser was a giant success out in Nanton on Wednesday July 10, 2019.

The event was organized as a way to raise funds for the well known Glover family, who are local to the community.

John Glover is a husband and father of three who was recently diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.

Due to his diagnoses he has been unable to work for the time being, and his wife who's now busy taking care of her husband wasn't able to work many hours either.

Community members and friends of the family put together an evening of bull riding, barrel racing and even a live auction to help the family cover expenses.

Event Organizer Tami Palmer says it was a very successful evening and the amount of responses was overwhelming.

"It was amazing, it was way better than any of us had ever sort of dreamed about." Tami says "We had a vision going in and it happened ten-fold. I'm actually at a loss for words to be perfectly honest."

Palmer who says their original goal was to raise about $50,000 was blown away by what they were able to accomplish.

"There was over 900 people who attended and we raised over $195,000."

Cowboy Country in Nanton donated all of their sales from the day to the cause and there were dozens of auction items including an "If I Can" Presentation from Chris Koch, a live Cougar Hunt, and a free roping session with professional Tie Down Roper Logan Bird.

Palmer says the highlight of the night for her, was that the Glover Family came to attend.

"The oldest Glover girl, Kaylen read a speech. As you can imagine that would have been pretty hard for mom and dad to do that but it was pretty emotional and we were so thankful that they got to attend."

Over all Palmer says it was a great event, the community spirit was high and it brought out the best in everybody.
