The Town of High River, along with the High River RCMP and the Fire Department will be out in full force on May 30 as they're hosting a charity checkstop to raise money for Jumpstart.

Community programmer with the Town, Iva Woodward, says funding from Jumpstart has played an integral role in helping High River kids play sports.

"Their slogan 'giving every child the right to play' so it's anything that's activity based, anything from soccer to hockey to dance to summer camps," she says. "It's just to give all kids the opportunity to play, and it's for the unfortunate ones who just don't have the money or the funding."

To date, the organization  has given over $14,000 in funding to go towards helping kids in High River play sports, which is why Woodward stresses the importance of supporting it.

"We're looking for any donation that you want to make, anything that's over $20, we will give a tax receipt," Woodward says.

You can find the checkstop on Centre Street on May 30 from 2 p.m. to 4 pm.

"And if you can't donate that day, you're more than welcome to come to the recreation centre, and you can donate there," Woodward says.
