The Okotoks Dawgs came into Tuesday nights (May 28) game undefeated, the same as their opponents the Sylvan Lake Gulls with both teams having a 2-0 record.

The Dawgs however would prove to be the superior team when they scored 11 runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and finished off the Gulls 17-3.

Ryan McFarland from Calgary would earn the win after starting the game and punched out three Bulls players with strikeouts in three innings.

The Gulls would open the scoring in the top of the first, but the Dawgs answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first. The two runs for the Dawgs would come off an error on the Gulls after Jacob Wrubleski was able to hit a single to centre field.

The Gulls would be blanked in the second inning. The Dawgs would add to their 2-1 lead after Okotoks' own Connor Crowson hit a sac fly and got Eric Hartman and Josh DeGroot over home plate. Kadyn Williams would add to the lead with a run of his own giving the Dawgs a 5-1 lead.

The third inning both teams would add to their scores by one making the game 6-2 heading into the fourth. 

The fourth inning would see no runs for either team, but the Gulls would get one more across home plate to cut the Dawgs lead in half with a score of 6-3.

Neither team would find success in getting more runs in until the bottom of the eighth where the Dawgs exploded with 11 runs. Crowson crossed home base twice in the inning and finished off with a batting average of .500. Eric Machej finished with 4 RBIs with Jacob Wrubleski and Crowson earning 3 RBIs.

Six different Dawgs earned RBIs in the 17-3 victory, keeping their undefeated streak alive.

The Dawgs' next game is Friday (May 31) at Elks Field when they visit Brooks to take on the Bombers, first pitch will be thrown at 7:05. Okotoks will then return home for Saturday's game when they face the Bombers in their second of back-to-back games at Seaman Stadium with a start time of 7:05.
