The Okotoks Dawgs finished their fourth game in four nights against the Giants with an 8-7 win this afternoon.

With the win the Dawgs swept Fort McMurray in their weekend series and improved to a 17-2 record in the 2024 WCBL season.

In the first three games, the Dawgs won convincingly with large gaps in scoring, in this afternoon's game it came down to one run.

The Giants opened the scoring in the bottom of the third inning getting two of their players across home plate. Dawgs answered back in the top of the fifth doubling the Giants' score for a 4-2 lead.

Okotoks' own Jacob Wrubleski got the first run on the board while Spencer Sullivan was up to bat. Kadyn Williams, Brendan Luther, and Sullivan would also add runs in the inning.

Fort McMurray didn't go away, answering with three runs in the bottom of the fifth to take back the lead in the game and going up 5-4.

Dawgs again traded leads with the Giants in the top of the sixth, going up 6-5 in Fort McMurray. Williams got two RBIs to give the Dawgs the lead back when he hit a sacrifice fly to centre field and gave Wrubleski and Lou Anderson enough time to cross home plate for runs.

Fort McMurray wouldn't go away as they scored another two runs in the bottom of the sixth, taking the lead back once again.

Crowson would tie the game in the top of the seventh after he found a way to get across home plate. Dawgs would seal the victory with Wrubleski hitting a sacrifice fly to the centre fielder and getting Crowson in for the game-winning run.

The Dawgs will have a day to relax tomorrow and host the Sylvan Lake Gulls at Seaman Stadium on Tuesday night at 7:05.
