Okotoks Fire and Rescue does not recommend people use the Sheep River to cool off due to high flow rates and unstable footing. If people choose to utilize the river or waterway for recreation, residents are reminded of the following safety precautions:

Always ensure you have a properly fitting life jacket or personal flotation device for each individual.

Exercise caution around river banks as the fast-moving water can cause erosion and destabilization.

Swimming or recreating in storm ponds is strictly prohibited.

The Town also wants to remind residents that the outdoor watering schedule is still in effect, especially during warmer temperatures as the amount of water lost to evaporation increases with the heat. Find your outdoor watering schedule at okotoks.ca/watering.
