The ice may have come out of local arenas, but that doesn't mean hockey is over.

Deana Schmuland is an organizer for a big event coming up.

"Fury in the Foothills is a youth street hockey tournament that is held every year in High River just behind Boston Pizza, we had taken it over in 2019, there was myself and some other ladies and then we had a great year that year and then, of course, there was COVID and then last year we started it again and we had a great turnout and this year we're continuing with that and this year it'll be held on June 10th," she says.

She says it's great to see the young people getting outdoors, smiling and having some fun.

They'll have 27 teams ready to go but they're looking for more, especially in U7, U15 and U17 categories.

There are usually five or six members to a team and the action gets started at 8:00 a.m. and goes until about 4:00 p.m. depending on the number of teams.

Schmuland says if there are any certified referees out there that would like to help out, they do pay for refs.

The deadline to enter is this Thursday, June 1.
