The annual Ice Breaker high school rugby tournament filled the fields at Highwood High school with hundreds of athletes over the weekend.

The annual tournament is a local high school tournament designed to get the teams together and working on gelling as the young season is underway.

One of the teams wasn't able to make it so nine teams comprised of both boys' and girls' teams hit the field on Saturday at Highwood High.

The all-day tourney got underway at 10 a.m. and it was more of an exhibition type of tournament as scores are not kept.  It's much more about expanding the sport and showcasing it for the community.  The main field as well as the practice field were used throughout the day.

The season just kicked off last Wednesday for the Highwood High School Mustangs Girls and Boys teams each winning their season openers.
