Film crews are in Calgary and surrounding areas working on the next chapter of the Ghostbusters story.

Production staff confirmed Monday, July 5, that the project would be the latest installment in the blockbuster franchise.

Details on production remain sparse, with no locations, or times being publicly announced.

Production vehicles had been spotted in Turner Valley as early as last week.

Filming is expected to begin this week.

It had long been rumored that Director Jason Reitman's upcoming project, under the working title "Rust City," would be the newest film in the Ghostbusters saga.

A photo of Reitman, along with his father Ivan Reitman (the original Director and Producer of Ghostbusters) with Stranger Things actor Finn Wolfhard, McKenna Grace, and Carrie Coon was posted to Instagram this past weekend.

The film is expected to be released in 2020.

Officials with the Town of Turner Valley say shooting will take place in the old Turner Valley Gas Plant this week, with Riverside Park along Decalta Road being used for production trailers and crew parking.

They say residents may hear a few loud bangs, which will be pyrotechnics being used during production.
